| About The Foyer |
|
The Foyer is named after Faraday Foyer at Lancaster University, where the Hiking Club
meets regularly every weekday lunchtime. Because of the regularity of the meetings
it is easy to consider the Foyer as a living room or home from home, despite the fact
it's just a throughfare from the Spine to some lecture theatres!
Between 1 and 2pm it's likely that you will find a circle of Hikers, surrounded
by fleeces and empty Birketts bags; talking, eating, consulting maps, gossiping
and generally making the place look untidy.
Because of the time all of us have spent in Faraday Foyer (or for those really
early Hikers - Bowland College Foyer), it seemed only sensible to name this website
after it.
I'm afraid I can't recreate the nondescript red carpet, the baking glare of
summer sun through the windows, the unusual and slightly naff foil-based art
over the steps or even the familiar sound of the doors opening, admitting
another unwitting student into the LUHC Office........ but this might just be
the next best thing........
The main LUHC website has a page all about the Foyer, which shows you what it's like nowadays!
