Saturday Night
Here it was at last! The main event was upon us and, after squeezing into those posh frocks and
stiff collars we began to congregate, in the main hall and out on the lawns.
Posh frocks and DJ's in abundance on the lawns
Mostly sober... about as civilised as you'll ever see us!
Let's face it - the top quality buffet Craig Almond and his staff provided for us
was the stuff of legend... and there's probably still some left!
The speeches followed. Mike gave an introductory welcome, and was followed by Ian and Karen,
in their guises as Past and (almost) Present Presidents, giving us a flavour of the Club in the Seventies and the
Nineties. Nick finished things off with the Chairman's address, which was received
with the usual amount of good natured heckling...
Ian Baker tells us all about the good old days
A few good photos opportunities followed. Many exec positions were very well represented. The
Presidents and the Treasurers decided to have a few group photos taken.
The Ex-Presidents Society: Craig, Paul, Mike, Kate, Ben, Karen, Steve, Ian
Treasurers everywhere... Louise, Jon, Kate, Julie, Ben, Rich, Andy
The entertainments were upon us! Our guest band, Stuart and Lindsay, provided us with some excellent
folk/rock covers and were one of the highlights of the weekend.
Stuart and Lindsay in action
Learning the Gay Gordon. NOTE: The actual presence of Gordon here should not be misconstrued...
When we all got warmed up a bit... things got a bit faster
When the last tune had been played we all went outside for the fireworks which Hairy Dave
had organised for us. John's time-lapse photos capture the display brilliantly.
Aaaaaaaaaah.....
Ooooooh.....
All together now...
Aaaaaaaaaaaw.....
The timelapse ghosts of Mark and Dave, who set the things off!
After the pyrotechnics it was back inside for the disco finale!
Alan and Chris made our very own Alumni Dream Team...
giving DJ Mikey Mike a break from behind his Wheels of Steel
And from there it all went a little bit hazy................
